Waste in Malawi is hardly weighed. Those managing the waste, especially the private sector, is barely compliant to requirements of waste management industry. Waste is often mixed and entirely taken to the landfill which is filling up really fast! Malawi is agro-based economy and well above 70% of solid waste produced in major cities of the country is organic. Composting, recycling and other sustainable waste management solutions are not encourged Waste Audit System is a digital platform which tracks the trajectory of waste from generation to disposal. The System has identified and connected all critical waste management joints to ensure that all waste management stakeholders are closely linked and waste management data is accessed by a press of a button The System quantifies, describes and reports all types of waste including liquid, solid and gaseous waste working with Malawi Environmental Protection Authority (MEPA), City and District Councils, private sector and the general public in Malawi and beyond to ensure that responsibilities are shared, opportunities and evenly distributed for a common future
